Design Perspective: Poster Design

Taipei Map Concert Poster by Tu Min-Shiang

I am once again back into the world of design as inspiration (not that I wasn’t looking at it all along). This poster by Tu Min-Shiang was a wonderful find while searching online this week. I love the layout and idea of the poster. Mixing a map and a graphic image is an interesting concept, and it definitely worked. The images of the people coming through in the different sections of the map adds a little humanity to what could have been a slightly sterile design. The way information is displayed is clean and the images and text connect with each other. There is a lot of information on this poster, but that does not clutter the final result. I also enjoy the way the poster is displayed, adding size reference and the human element, grounding the piece. This is a wonderful example of what a poster can be.
